 Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney in the Disney World Resort
was a six-acre
enclave of sophisticated evening entertainment. It is located in the center of
Downtown Disney between the shops at the Marketplace and the nightclubs and
performance halls at Disney's West Side. By day, you could shop at the islands
trendy stores, have lunch at one of several good restaurants, or catch a matinee
at the 24-screen movie complex. At night, however, Pleasure Island was transformed. Limousines lined up at the entrances, the streets
fill with party-goers, and the nightclubs open their doors. At midnight, there
was
a splashy New Years Eve celebration and fireworks show, and the partying
continues into the wee-hours. Every night on Pleasure Island was a street party,
often with special entertainment events, visiting performers, or seasonal
celebrations. |
